Aston Villa join race for Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter?

Aston Villa have reportedly joined a number of Premier League clubs in the chase for Nottingham Forest full-back Chris Gunter.

The Wales international has been linked with a switch to the top flight in recent months, with Swansea City and Fulham previously believed to be interested in the 22-year-old.

It is understood that new Villa boss Paul Lambert is eager to get going in the transfer market and has outlined a £2.5m bid for the defender, according to the Daily Star.

Gunter has been at the Championship side since 2009.
