Aston Villa take Spurs pair

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish completed the signings of Jermaine Jenas and Alan Hutton from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day.

Midfielder Jenas has linked up at Villa Park on a season-long deal following the arrival of Scott Parker at White Hart Lane.

Scottish international full-back Hutton has made his move to Villa a permanent one after Spurs granted him permission to discuss a transfer with the club.

McLeish said of both players on the club's official website: "Alan is a player whom I know well. Hits the bill in terms of having the right temperament to be an important and influential player for Villa.

"Jermaine is a dynamic midfield player and I feel he will add to the quality of the squad as well. He has also played at a very high level and I'm sure he will be relishing this opportunity."

Hutton has reportedly joined the club for £4m.
