Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi starred in his side's 3-0 triumph against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday night.
The hosts were arguably fortunate to not be reduced to 10 men early on given Matty Cash arrived late when attempting to challenge Daichi Kamada, but the VAR decided against recommending a review.
Palace were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute after Kamada was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Marco Bizot, and Jean-Philippe Mateta coolly converted.
The visitors doubled their lead midway through the second half when captain Guehi carried the ball forward, before a clearance set him up for a strike from the edge of the box.
Ismaila Sarr would add a third for the Eagles with just over 10 minutes left on the clock, with his brave header at the far post enough to seal victory.
The result leaves Villa in 19th place with just one point from three games, whereas Palace enter the September international break in eighth place with five points.
SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT
The performance of Villa goalkeeper Bizot will call into question the decision to leave Emiliano Martinez out of the squad amid rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.
Boss Unai Emery will hope that the shot-stopper can put Sunday's game behind him, but perhaps the bigger issue for the Spanish manager is that his side have looked toothless in attack, failing to score in their three Premier League matches.
Palace head coach Oliver Glasner will be delighted that his side have responded well to the loss of attacker Eberechi Eze, and he has reinforced his status as one of the most tactically astute managers in the top flight.
However, it is impossible to ignore how much of a blow it would be to lose Guehi, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and replacing his impact on the pitch at this late stage of the window would be nearly impossible.
