Joleon Lescott: 'We have to earn a positive result against Watford'

Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott says that his team have to take a positive result in their Premier League clash against Watford to lift the mood at the club.

Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has insisted that his side are only focused on claiming a victory by any means necessary in their Premier League clash against Watford.

The Villans are rock-bottom of the table after 13 matches this season and are at risk at being left adrift following Sunderland's win over Crystal Palace on Monday.

Villa have not won a game since the opening day of the campaign, and Lescott is adamant that Remi Garde's men need to find any way of scraping a victory to ease their relegation worries.

He told the club's official website: "We have one aim on our mind - winning. It would be great to play well and come away with three points having scored a few goals and earned a clean sheet - but that's not the overall essential aim.

"The aim is to get three points regardless of how we play. Whether that's a top, top performance or a scrappy 1-0 win - we'll take anything.

"Just getting a positive result, the three points, would lift the spirits of the whole club."

Villa face Watford at Villa Park tomorrow.
