Remi Garde still believes Aston Villa can survive

Manager Remi Garde refuses to accept that his struggling Aston Villa team are doomed for relegation.

Remi Garde has insisted that his Aston Villa side can still avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Ahead of Saturday evening's trip to Swansea City, Garde's men are rooted to the bottom of the table, nine points from safety.

However, despite having conceded that Villa are faced with "an impossible mission", Garde has refused to give up hope.

"I am not stupid. It's an impossible mission that we have to make possible. You never know in football," he told reporters.

"We need to win games - at home or away, it doesn't matter. We are in an urgent situation. It will be very tight, probably with a lot of tension.

"I still believe. I have said that since the first day. I am focused on saving the club from relegation."

Villa have competed in the Premier League every year since its inception in 1992.
