Joe Cole calls for Aston Villa unity

Joe Cole urges everyone at Aston Villa to stay united as the team battles against relegation.

Aston Villa midfielder Joe Cole has called on everyone at the club to stay united as the team battles to avoid relegation.

The Villans were plunged into the drop zone last night following their 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Hull City.

Despite uncertainty over the club's future in the Premier League, Cole is eager for everyone at Villa Park to stay focused during the coming weeks.

"We're devastated with the result, but we have to stick together," the former England international told Villa's official website. "We have to stand together and stick together - the fans, the players, the manager and the staff.

"If we all stick together we can get the right results. I take full responsibility for my role in the squad and the team. I've been working hard alongside all of the other boys trying to turn it round for us."

Aston Villa continue their FA Cup campaign on Sunday when they entertain Leicester City in the fifth round.
