Stand-in Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor plays down talk that the club could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Stand-in Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has played down suggestions that the club could be dragged into a relegation battle.

The Midlands side, who travel to Liverpool on Saturday, are just five points above the drop zone.

However, Agbonlahor believes that his teammates are more than capable of getting a result at Anfield.

"We're just looking at every game, trying to win the games and hopefully we can get the results we need," he told Absolute Radio.

"We're going to go there looking for a result. I think they'll be looking to get the fans on their side after some disappointing results for themselves.

"We know it's going to be tough but, as long as we start the game in a good manner, then hopefully it will be a good outcome."

The Merseysiders ran out 2-0 winners when the two sides met at Villa Park in December.
