Andreas Weimann: "Players devastated over Stiliyan Petrov"

Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann has revealed the magnitude of shock felt by his teammates after captain Stiliyan Petrov was diagnosed with leukaemia.

The news was made public on Friday and since then tributes have flooded in from around the world in support Petrov. Weimann admitted that the Villa players are still stunned by the news.

"Everyone at the club is devastated but we're all behind him. He's ready to fight it and hopefully he'll get through it," said Weimann.

"I only found out about it on TV, everyone was devastated and when they found out everyone wished him the best."

Petrov, 32, will resume his treatment in London on Monday after being diagnosed with the illness on Friday.
