Michael Owen: 'Christian Benteke could save Aston Villa's season'

Michael Owen thinks that Christian Benteke's return to goal-scoring form could "save" Aston Villa's season this term.

Michael Owen believes that Christian Benteke could "save" Aston Villa's season after the Belgium international netted the winner against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Benteke struck the only goal of the game as Paul Lambert's side beat the Eagles 1-0 at Selhurst Park, and former England international Owen was impressed with the powerful forward's display.

He wrote on Sports Lobster: "Wow. Aston Villa fans must be buzzing Benteke is back.

"He could save them this season if he gets back to his best. That was some finish last night."

The win ended Villa's nine-game wait for a Premier League victory.
