Fabian Delph: 'Leading Aston Villa out in FA Cup final will be highlight of my career'

Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph admits that leading his side out in the FA Cup final at Wembley will be the best day of his professional career.

Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph has claimed that leading his side out in the FA Cup final at Wembley will be the best day of his professional career.

Tim Sherwood's charges beat Liverpool 2-1 in Sunday's semi-final as goals by Christian Benteke and Delph cancelled out Philippe Coutinho's opener.

Delph told BBC Sport: "The next game we are thinking about now is the Premier League. But I can't wait for the final. To walk out as captain will be the highlight of my career.

"We were confident going into the game and we are so happy to go away with the win. We had a game plan and stuck to it. Final, here we come!"

The final of the FA Cup will be contested between Villa and Arsenal on May 30.
