Tottenham Hotspur escaped from Stade Louis-II with a point in the Champions League thanks to a 0-0 draw against Ligue 1's Monaco on Wednesday night.
The clash was lacking in quality and flow for extended periods, though it was surprising to see the teams go into the break on level terms.
Thomas Frank's side were fortunate not to go behind in the opening 45, as Guglielmo Vicario made a number of fine saves, though it would be fair to say that former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun was wasteful with his chances.
Aiming to take the initiative, the Londoners brought on Xavi Simons and Pape Sarr for Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall around the hour mark, yet they had little impact.
Likewise, the hosts introduced Takumi Minamino and Aleksandr Golovin, but while Les Rouges et Blanc continued to create chances - with the former Liverpool man continually finding space with runs into the box - they failed to find a breakthrough.
Brennan Johnson had a huge chance to steal all three points for Spurs late on, but he failed to make a solid enough connection on a shot that was blocked by Christian Mawissa, and the Lilywhites walked away with a point in a game where they were undoubtedly second best.
SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT
Sebastien Pocognoli's Monaco are still waiting for their first win in the Champions League this season, and despite playing well, they have just two points from their three league phase games so far.
That being said, the manager was only appointed on October 12, and the fact that this match saw Les Rouge et Blanc keep their first clean sheet of the campaign across all competitions could serve as a silver lining.
As for Spurs, Frank made three changes to the XI that drew with Bodo/Glimt, leaving out Sarr, Djed Spence and Johnson in favour of Archie Gray, Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus, but the result was the same in the end.
Tottenham have proven resilient in 2025-26, but they have now triumphed in just one of their last five games (drawing three and losing one), and the Lilywhites will be desperate to get back to winning ways at the weekend.
Notably, the Londoners went 125 games without a goalless stalemate prior to Wednesday's clash, with the previous one coming against AC Milan in the Champions League back in March 2023.
