Juventus told to pay £20m for Szczesny?

Arsenal have reportedly turned down a derisory £4m bid from Juventus for goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and are instead holding out for five times that amount.

The Poland international is wanted by the Italian giants as back-up to Gianluigi Buffon, who is expected to retire from the sport next summer.

Szczesny fell out of favour at Arsenal but has successfully got his career back on track in Serie A with Roma, where he has spent the last two seasons on loan.

According to The Sun, the Gunners were prepared to offload the 27-year-old for £13m this summer, though after seeing Jordan Pickford join Everton for £30m they have now raised the stakes.

It is claimed that Arsenal are in no rush to sell, with Szczesny due to return to pre-season training next month and potentially rival Petr Cech for a starting spot come the beginning of the new season.
