Arsenal transfer news: Al-Hilal 'getting closer' to finalising Gabriel Martinelli fee, Brazilian left with decision

Arsenal and Al-Hilal are allegedly edging nearer to agreeing a deal for Gabriel Martinelli.

Amid speculation about his future, the long-serving Gunners player has been left out of the club's opening two squads of the season.

The Premier League champions are seemingly open to cashing in on the Brazil international, rather than activating an option which would extend his contract until 2028.

As well as Galatasaray, Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have been heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, whether Martinelli moves to the Middle East could be a decision left down to him.

What fee could Al-Hilal pay for Martinelli?

The report alleges that a fee between £50m and £55m has been mentioned during discussions involving the two teams.

Club-to-club talks are said to be in their final stages, with Arsenal ready to accept that sum of money for Martinelli.

With terms between the clubs likely to be agreed, Martinelli will be left to decide whether he wants to take the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia.

Fellow winger Malcom is the only other Brazilian player in the Al-Hilal squad.

A total of 62 goals and 36 assists have been contributed from 278 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.

Are Arsenal right to cash in on Martinelli?

Christos Tzolis has made a strong start on the left flank since his arrival from Club Brugge, something that has perhaps encouraged Arsenal to part ways with Martinelli.

However, with Leandro Trossard having already left the Emirates Stadium and Martinelli having made at least 50 outings in the last two seasons, it feels like Mikel Arteta is taking a risk.

Should Arsenal, as expected, choose to reinvest the money in a left-winger who they deem to be an upgrade, they will hope that he can show similar levels of availability to Martinelli over the course of a long season.
