Unai Emery 'wants Getafe defender Djene Dakonam at Arsenal'

Emery 'wants La Liga defender at Arsenal'

Arsenal boss Unai Emery reportedly scouted Djene Dakonam at the weekend as the Gunners consider a swoop for the Getafe defender in this summer's transfer window.

Djene has been in fine form for Getafe during the 2018-19 campaign with the 27-year-old helping the Madrid outfit to fourth position in La Liga with a string of impressive performances, and that has meant that a Dafabet promo code could potentially be used when betting on which club could sign the player ahead of next season.

The Togo international is believed to have a £31m release clause inserted into his current deal, and it has previously been reported that Barcelona have been scouting the defender this season.

According to AS, though, Arsenal are also interested in a summer swoop for Djene, with the London club's head coach Emery making a personal check on the defender during Sunday's goalless draw between Valencia and Getafe.

Djene, who joined his current club from Belgian outfit Sint-Truden in the summer of 2017, has made 26 La Liga appearances during the 2018-19 campaign.

The player is still less than halfway through his contract at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, but Getafe now find themselves in a position where they are likely to have to hand one of their star men a pay-rise in order to keep him at the club.

Much could depend on how Getafe perform during the closing two months of the season with the Deep Blues sitting in fourth place in the league table, a spot which would secure qualification for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
