Eberechi Eze unveiled by Ian Wright as Arsenal confirm £67.5m transfer and iconic shirt number

"Do you want to raise hairs?" - Eze unveiled by Wright as Arsenal signing confirmed

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a deal that could eventually reach up to £67.5m.

The 27-year-old has become the Gunners' seventh signing of the summer transfer window, following Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga to the Emirates Stadium for the 2025-26 season.

Arsenal are understood to have paid an initial £60m for the signature of Eze, who was previously on the verge of joining North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur before the Gunners hijacked their bitter adversaries' move for the former Queens Park Rangers youngster.

Eze was released by Arsenal as a youth player, but the playmaker's unbreakable bond with the club proved too strong to resist, and he has now officially become the Gunners' new number 10.

The England international follows in the footsteps of legendary creative fulcrums to sport that iconic jersey - including Mesut Ozil and Dennis Bergkamp - and he could make his debut in next weekend's blockbuster Premier League battle against Liverpool at Anfield.

Eze signs for Arsenal: Mikel Arteta, Andrea Berta react to transfer

"We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal," Gunners boss Mikel Arteta told the official Arsenal website. "He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game.

"What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.

"His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon."

Sporting director Andrea Berta added: "We are so pleased to have completed this deal to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality – also a big-game player, with his experience at international level with England also underlining his quality and character.

"There has been excellent teamwork across the club to make this transfer happen and we are very confident Eberechi will be an important addition to our squad as we continue to build for success."

Eze announced as Arsenal player in creative Ian Wright video

Eze joined forces with Gunners legend Ian Wright for his Arsenal unveiling, where the latter delivered a gripping monologue to welcome the former Hale End graduate back to the club.

"A rhetorical question. A question not intended to require an answer," Wright said. "Because some things don't need saying.

"Do you want to create? Do you want to excite? Do you want to raise levels, raise hairs, raise the roof? Do you want to write a legacy?

"Some things don't need saying, but we say them anyway. Do you want to realise those dreams? Do you want the Arsenal?"

Eze subsequently came into shot and replied "obviously" before sharing a hug with Wright, who concludes with the line "Welcome to the Arsenal, my friend".

Eze departs Palace with a record of 40 goals and 28 assists from 169 games for the Eagles in all tournaments, making his final appearance for the FA Cup winners in last weekend's goalless draw with Chelsea.
