Garry Monk: Wilfried Bony will only be sold for "astronomical fee"

Garry Monk warns Wilfried Bony's potential suitors that only an "astronomical fee" would tempt Swansea City into selling the 16-goal striker this summer.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has warned Wilfried Bony's suitors that it would take an "astronomical fee" to tempt them into parting with the striker this summer.

The Ivorian scored 16 goals in his debut Premier League season to guide the Swans to top-flight safety, after joining in a £12m deal from Vitesse Arnhem.

His performances, particularly towards the end of the campaign, have reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Everton, but Monk, who was appointed permanent Swansea manager last week, has insisted that they do not need to sell and will only do so if the money is simply too good to turn down.

"I think we can hold on to him," he told reporters. "He's a good guy but money talks.

"It would have to be an astronomical fee for him to leave though and we're not a selling club. We're not in any debt. We don't need to lose anyone so we're in a strong position."

Bony, 25, has stressed this week that he plans to be a Swansea player at the start of next season.
