Report: Arsenal interested in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane

Arsenal will battle with Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of highly-rated Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to reports.

Arsenal have entered the race to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane in the next transfer window, according to reports.

The French defender is reportedly on Chelsea and Manchester United's radar after struggling to displace Pepe and Sergio Ramos at the heart of Real's defence.

According to the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger is eager to strengthen his defence in January and has earmarked his 21-year-old compatriot as a possible option.

Varane admitted earlier this week that he is not happy with the amount of game time he is being given at the Bernabeu.
