Arsenal transfer latest: Gunners ready to move 'swiftly' for Palace star once Viktor Gyokeres completes transfer

Arsenal ready to move 'swiftly' for Palace star once Gyokeres signs

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to turn their focus to Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze once they have completed the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners are understood to be on the verge of unveiling Gyokeres as the newest member of Mikel Arteta's squad, having reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon over a deal worth an initial £54.8m (€63.5m) plus £8.74m (€10m).

On Friday, it was reported that the striker was on his way to London to complete his medical ahead of the highly anticipated move.

According to The Independent, Arsenal's recruitment team will turn their focus to Palace's Eze once Gyokeres has officially been signed.

Arsenal to pursue Eze after Gyokeres transfer

Arsenal are yet to make 'formal contact' with Palace, but they are preparing to move 'swiftly' in their pursuit of the England international.

The Gunners will try to negotiate a fee with the Eagles rather than pay Eze's reported £68m release clause.

Arsenal want to strike a deal worth £60m with the amount split into three instalments of £20m.

There is a belief that Arsenal could look to sell a player before they step up their efforts to sign Eze, although any potential move is not dependent on departures.

Reiss Nelson could be offered to Palace as part of the deal, although the winger has also been linked with a return to Fulham after spending last season on loan at Craven Cottage.

Eze keen on Arsenal switch

Eze, who is under contract until 2027, has also been mentioned as a possible target for Club World Cup winners Chelsea.

Arsenal's North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, are another name that have been linked with the Palace star.

However, Eze is favouring a move to the Emirates Stadium over all other destinations, with the player's camp confident that a transfer can be agreed between all parties.

The attacking midfielder would add creativity to Arsenal's ranks and could provide competition to Gunners captain Martin Odegaard.

There is also the option for Arteta to deploy Eze on the left flank instead of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Noni Madueke.
