Fulham transfer news: Marco Silva responds to Reiss Nelson links as Cottagers boss addresses transfer frustration

Silva responds to Nelson links as Fulham boss addresses transfer frustration

Fulham manager Marco Silva has responded to speculation over a possible Craven Cottage return for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with the West London club, but it ultimately proved to be a difficult campaign for the Arsenal man.

Nelson contributed two goals and an assist in 13 competitive appearances before he picked up a hamstring injury in December that curtailed his 2024-25 season.

Despite being hampered by injury, Nelson has been linked with a return to Fulham before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.

Silva coy on Nelson speculation

However, Silva refused to provide any details when asked about the speculation in an interview with Sky Sports News

"Nelson was with us last season, he was very unlucky in terms of his injury record last season," Silva said.

"Perhaps in his best moment of the season, he had a bad injury that broke the momentum of him.

"But he's not our player right now, he's an Arsenal player, so I'm not going to talk about players from another club."

Silva addresses Fulham transfer struggles

Fulham have experienced a quiet summer up until this point, with the Cottagers still waiting to make their first addition of the window.

Silva has revealed that he "understands" the frustration coming from the fanbase due to the lack of transfer activity.

"Myself as a manager and all the managers, they would prefer to have the squad almost complete in this stage of the pre-season," Silva admitted.

"Until now, it's not been possible. And I understand the fans. But what I can tell them is we are working hard, we haven't started in terms of signings. But we have a lot of business to do in this market."

Fulham are believed to be on the verge of making Benjamin Lecomte their first summer signing, with the Montpellier goalkeeper set to become a backup option to the club's first-choice shot-stopper Bernd Leno.
