Arsenal are behind Bayern Munich in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, according to a report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly at the head of the queue for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

The 21-year-old, who has made 21 appearances for his German club during the 2019-20 campaign, has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal over the last few months.

The Gunners are thought to view the France Under-21 international as a leading transfer target, but according to Bild, Mikel Arteta's side are behind Bayern in the race for his signature.

The report claims that the reigning Bundesliga champions are the favourites to complete a deal for the centre-back either this month or during the summer transfer window.

Upamecano, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Barcelona, will allegedly see the release clause in his current deal drop to £53m this summer.

Arsenal, however, are thought to be on the verge of completing a move for Flamengo's Pablo Mari.
