Team News: Bukayo Saka on bench for Arsenal, Thomas Partey starts

Saka on bench for Arsenal, Partey starts

Bukayo Saka has been named on the bench for Arsenal's Premier League clash with Leeds United, but Thomas Partey is passed fit to start.

The 21-year-old's demotion marks the first time since December 2021 that he has not started a Premier League game, as Leandro Trossard keeps his place in the final third.

With Saka absent from the first XI - apparently due to illness - Gabriel Jesus also comes in for his first Premier League start since before the World Cup, as Gabriel Martinelli completes the hosts' frontline.

However, Partey has recovered from a knock to join Granit Xhaka and captain Martin Odegaard in the engine room, while Kieran Tierney is able to make the bench after a calf scare.

William Saliba is still nursing a back problem, so Rob Holding keeps his place in the back line alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale.

Meanwhile, Leeds boss Javi Gracia has made four changes to the side that overcame Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break, as Wilfried Gnonto, Maximilian Wober, Patrick Bamford and Weston McKennie make way.

Rasmus Kristensen, Pascal Struijk, Crysencio Summerville and Luis Sinisterra come in for the Whites, who will seemingly line up with a five-man defence at the Emirates.

Arsenal: Ramsdale; White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Odegaard, Xhaka; Trossard, Jesus, Martinelli Subs: Turner, Tierney, Saka, Smith Rowe, Kiwior, Jorginho, Vieira, Nelson, Walters

Leeds United: Meslier; Kristensen, Ayling, Koch, Struijk, Firpo; Harrison, Roca, Aaronson, Summerville; Sinisterra Subs: Robles, Cooper, Bamford, Gyabi, Rodrigo, Rutter, McKennie, Greenwood, Gray
