How Liverpool could line up against Arsenal

How Liverpool could line up against Arsenal

There is no more room for error for Liverpool if they are to break the record for most points in an English top-flight season.

Jurgen Klopp's champions will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night to face Arsenal knowing that only three wins from three would see them surpass Manchester City's centurions of 2017-18.

The Reds will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's surprise 1-1 draw with Burnley which saw their record home winning streak come to an end, and they face an Arsenal side that was beaten by Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the trip to North London.

Klopp has rotated key members of his side in recent matches, with Trent Alexander-Arnold the latest to be given a rest last time out.

The right-back is expected to come back into the XI for this one, although other players will be wondering whether it might be their turn to be left out - Mohamed Salah in particular is due a rest.

Salah will be desperate to start again as he chases a third successive Golden Boot, though, and he has an impressive record against Arsenal with six goals in as many games against the Gunners.

Roberto Firmino can boast even better figures in this fixture, with his eight goals in nine games against the Gunners making them his favourite opponent.

Sadio Mane's numbers of four goals in seven games since joining Liverpool are not too shabby either, and Klopp may therefore find it difficult to rest any of his first-choice front three against an Arsenal defence which regularly makes mistakes.

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are among the players pushing for a recall, particularly in the absence of injured captain Jordan Henderson.

Klopp is being cautious regarding the fitness of James Milner too as the veteran midfielder nurses a hamstring injury, so he is unlikely to be included with other options available.
