Wenger: 'Arsenal fans don't hate me'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he does not take fan criticism personally.

The Frenchman eased some of the pressure on himself after guiding the Gunners to a 2-0 win away to AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday, but he faced a backlash over his team's form in the run-up to the match.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Wenger said that he believes he is not hated by Gunners supporters on a personal level.

"Honestly I can take a distance with that. It's not the person they hate, they hate the manager who doesn't deliver the performance," he said.

"I can make that difference. But I'm just unhappy that we lose the games. I want to win, win with style even, so it's very ambitious.

"When we don't do it of course I'm suffering like everyone else. Arsenal is 30 million people, it's not the suffering of one person, you want to make 30 million people happy and that's what you care about."

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Watford at the Emirates.
