Danny Welbeck backs Arsenal title challenge

New Arsenal signing Danny Welbeck believes that the club is capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season.

New Arsenal signing Danny Welbeck has backed the club to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The 23-year-old striker joined the Gunners from Manchester United on transfer deadline day for a reported fee of £16m.

Following the team's success in the FA Cup last season, Welbeck believes that Arsenal can go one step further this term and be crowned champions of England.

"They've done well in recent years and last year we got the FA Cup and I feel like it's time where we could really push on and try and challenge for the Premier League title. I've got one medal and it's something that I really want to add to," he told the club's official website.

Welbeck could make his Arsenal debut on September 13 when they return to action at home to Manchester City in the Premier League.
