Harry Redknapp suggests that Sunderland's on-loan striker Nicklas Bendtner was not good enough to make it at Arsenal.

Harry Redknapp does not believe that Nicklas Bendtner lacked was good enough make it at Arsenal.

The Danish international joined Sunderland on loan from the Gunners at the start of the season and will face Redknapp's Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.

Since his arrival on Wearside, the 24-year-old has scored seven times in 25 matches and he played a starring role in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City last weekend.

So far during his Arsenal career, Bendtner has managed only 22 goals in 99 Premier League appearances, over half of which have been as a substitute.

In Bendtner's absence, Arsene Wenger's side have averaged two goals per game in the league this season and Robin van Persie is the runaway top-scorer in the division with 26.

While Redknapp admits that Bendtner is talented, he believes that Wenger was right to offload him.

He said: "If Arsene Wenger thought he was that good he wouldn't let him go out on loan would he?

"Obviously he thought it was time to get him out of there.

"On his day, he's a good player. He's got bags of talent but it's just getting it out of him on a regular basis. When he's playing well he can be a problem for anybody."

Bendtner recently stated that he has not given much thought to his future plans.
