Aaron Ramsey backs Arsenal for Premier League challenge

Arsenal are "really close" to winning the Premier League, according to midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey believes that they can win the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners are currently third in the table after an inconsistent campaign and trail champions Chelsea by 12 points.

Ramsey has admitted that the Blues deserve their success, but is adamant that Arsenal's form since Christmas shows that they can win the title.

He told Sky Sports News: "We were a bit inconsistent the first half of the season, and we couldn't put a run together. In the second half we've done really well and that's been really positive. That's something that we can finish off on and go into the FA Cup and hopefully win that again and go into next season.

"I think maybe injuries had an influence [at the start of the season], new players coming in, and maybe the team wasn't quite settled. We couldn't find that consistency we were looking for and ultimately we paid the price because Chelsea did it throughout the season. They deserve it.

"If we had our second-half form in the first half of the season, we would have had a great opportunity, and that's our aim to go on and win the Premier League because we feel we're really close and we have the capabilities."

Arsenal have not won the league since 2004.
