Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'Arsenal will not fade out of title race'

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has insisted that Arsenal have what it takes to maintain their push for the Premier League title throughout the campaign.

The Gunners stormed to a 5-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday evening, lifting them back up to second place and three points off leaders Chelsea.

Oxlade-Chamberlain reserved special praise for three-goal scorer Alexis Sanchez following the one-sided affair, comparing the Chilean to Manchester City's leading marksman Sergio Aguero, while also branding those who do not have faith in his side as "disrespectful".

"We were 1-0 up at half time but we were a little wasteful and they were putting dangerous balls into the box," he told BT Sport. "We knew we needed to come out strong in the second half and in the end it was quite convincing. Alexis was brilliant - he gives you that speed in behind opposing defences.

"He's like Aguero in many ways. You get balls up to him and he can just make things happen. He's an amazing player and it's great to have in the team. We are good on the counter attack and Mesut Ozil and Alexis are the first to turn and go in behind. When West Ham scored it kicked us back into life.

"We just need to keep winning games. We're Arsenal Football Club. If people don't expect us to be there or thereabouts (in the title race) it's a bit disrespectful. You never know what's going to happen. We need to keep this going."

Arsenal have still lost just the one league game this term, coming against Liverpool on the opening weekend, with Stoke City, Everton and Manchester City left to come before Christmas.
