Mikel Arteta stretchered off

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has been forced to leave this afternoon's match away at Liverpool early with a head injury.

The Spaniard suffered a suspected head injury following a clash with Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Arteta was stretchered off and required an oxygen mask as he left the pitch.

The Arsenal medical staff have told Sky Sports News that the 29-year-old is suffering from severe concussion.

Arteta joined the Gunners last August from Everton.
