Marc Overmars 'interested in Arsenal return'

Arsenal legend Marc Overmars is reportedly keen to return to the club or former side Barcelona to work as a director of football.

Arsenal legend Marc Overmars is reportedly keen to return to the London club or former side Barcelona to work as a director of football.

Overmars, who spent three years with the Gunners between 1997 and 2000, winning a Premier League title and the FA Cup, is now building his reputation behind the scenes as director of football with Ajax.

Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf claim that the 47-year-old is considering making a move to another elite European club in the future.

The report also states that Overmars would not reject an opportunity to work with one of his former teams if he is to seek a fresh challenge away from Ajax.

Arsenal have recently turned to former players, with Mikel Arteta appointed as the club's manager in December 2019, while Edu became their technical director in July of the same year.

Former defender Per Mertesacker is currently an academy coach at the Emirates Stadium, while the likes of Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg have also had roles with the club in the past.
