Gibbs: 'Man City victory turning point in Arsenal's season'

Kieran Gibbs believes that Arsenal's impressive victory over Manchester City last time out in the Premier League could act as a "turning point" in the club's season.

The Gunners prevailed 2-0 at the champions a fortnight ago, ensuring that they still have lingering hopes of finishing top of the league, while also remaining on track to achieve success in both the FA Cup and Champions League.

Having made a strong start to their last top-flight campaign before fading away, Gibbs is confident that Arsenal can learn from previous disappointment and hit form just when it matters.

"I think Manchester City was quite a turning point, sometimes it takes a game to change the dynamics," the full-back is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "Not just in the team but also in the league. It was like an awareness that we have a big say in the league.

"I think we already knew that but sometimes one game can just change that mentality. If you look at last year, we were top of the league for the majority of the season but towards the end was where we faded. Now we have got a chance to hit form and we'll see where we end up.

"I just look at the next game, against Aston Villa. You can't set yourself any limits. We have still got loads to play for. It's all there in front of everyone to see what there is to play for. We want to embrace it and take control of it."

Victory for the London outfit against Aston Villa this afternoon will lift them level on points with the top four.
