Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon believes Arsenal will finish outside of the top four this season.

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon believes that the current crop of Gunners players will finish outside of the top four this season.

Arsene Wenger's side lost 2-1 to Tottenham yesterday, giving their North London neighbours a five-point lead in the chase for a Champions League spot.

Dixon believes that Arsenal's defensive problems mean his old side will have trouble finishing in the top four and possibly even the top six.

"I think top four is out of their reach now, I really do, so you are looking at top six.

"Yet the way they are playing now, can they reach the top eight?"

Arsenal have not finished outside the top four under Wenger and last placed behind Tottenham in the league in 1994/1995.
