Petr Cech: 'Arsenal must start winning ugly'

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech says that the Gunners will have to learn from his old Chelsea side and win games when they are not performing at their best.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has stated that the Gunners will have to learn how to win games when they are not at their best, in the same manner as his old Chelsea side.

The Czech Republic international stopper lifted four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Cech has said that he is hoping to bring some of that winning experience to an Arsenal side that has won just two FA Cups in the past 10 years.

"Sometimes you need to stick to the basics and forget about playing the way you want when it's not going your way," the 33-year-old told The Mirror.

"You need to make sure you do the basics right in every game. That gives you the platform to build on - and then, if you don't have a particularly great day, you can make sure you still get the maximum out of it. At Chelsea we had games where we knew it was not going our way, but we managed to get the most out of it, which was a great skill to have.

"It's about adapting to the situation better. As I said before, if you go too much with the emotion, you can be punished."

Cech arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer for £10m.
