Mikel Arteta: 'We have to react to Liverpool thrashing'

Mikel Arteta says that Arsenal need to "react" to their 5-1 hammering against Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta has told his Arsenal teammates that their 5-1 defeat against Liverpool was "like a car crash".

The Gunners were 4-0 down with just 20 minutes played, before Raheem Sterling got his second of the afternoon to make it five after the break.

Arteta, who got a late consolation from the penalty spot, admits that Arsenal must modify their approach to games against their title rivals.

"We have to react. We know we need to improve and face those games in a different manner because after 18 minutes here we were 4-0 down and it was like a car crash," the midfielder told The Telegraph.

"The manager (Arsene Wenger) was really upset at half-time because it wasn't good enough for this football club. It was the angriest I have seen him."

Wenger's side meet Manchester United on Wednesday.
