Arsenal are reportedly impressed with the progress of teenage centre-back William Saliba while on loan at Saint-Etienne, particularly his physical prowess.

Arsenal are reportedly impressed with the progress of new signing William Saliba at Saint-Etienne.

The teenage centre-back was signed by the Gunners this summer and immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 side to further his development as part of the deal.

Saliba missed the start of the season through injury, reporting to London Colney for rehabilitation, and was assessed in his time there.

The Gunners are thought to have been impressed with his physical prowess, despite noting one or two specific areas with room for improvement, according to the Metro.

There is a confidence that the young Frenchman will be ready to compete for a starting spot when he returns from loan ahead of next season as he has turned in strong showings in France since his recovery.
