Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for "a few weeks" with knee injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be out for "a few weeks" with a knee injury.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be out for "a few weeks" with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old midfielder suffered the problem during Tuesday's 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in their last-16 Champions League clash at the Emirates.

It has now been revealed by Wenger that Oxlade-Chamberlain's injury is worse than first feared and it will keep him on the treatment table for some time.

"We lost Oxlade-Chamberlain on Tuesday," Wenger told reporters in Friday's press conference. "His injury is quite serious and keeps him out for a few weeks. He's seeing a knee specialist."

Wenger did not give an exact recovery time, but claimed that his player could be out of action for "two or three weeks", or even "six or seven".

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been vying for a place in the England squad for this summer's European Championships in France.
