Project Restart: Wolverhampton Wanderers' remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Throughout the 2019-20 campaign, no other English club can match Wolverhampton Wanderers for the amount of fixtures which have been played in all competitions.

As well as featuring in 29 Premier League fixtures, a further 19 games have come in the Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, arguably leaving Nuno Espirito Santo's side in danger of running out of steam before the coronavirus pandemic.

However, while it remains to be seen whether a three-month rest period will benefit the West Midlands outfit, they return to action looking to achieve a top-six place in the Premier League table.

As it stands, they sit in sixth spot, but they will drop down a place should Sheffield United avoid defeat in their game in hand against Aston Villa on June 17.

Wolves' first encounter comes against West Ham United three days later, with further outings against Bournemouth and Aston Villa to come within the space of a week.

Although they are three appealing games on paper, each of their upcoming opponents are fighting to avoid relegation from the top flight, putting Wolves in a position where they will likely have to perform to their best to gain a solid return.

With Arsenal, Sheffield United and Everton to follow, that may be required in order to remain in the hunt for a place in Europe, whether that be the Champions League or Europa League.

A double-header with Burnley and Crystal Palace is scheduled to be played before a trip to Chelsea on the final day of the campaign, a game which may prove crucial to both teams as they bid to achieve their respective targets for the season.
