How Arsenal could line up against Chelsea in FA Cup final

How Arsenal could line up against Chelsea

Arsenal will be looking to continue their love affair with the FA Cup by winning the famous trophy for a record-extending 14th time when they face Chelsea on Saturday.

The Gunners are relying on the competition to salvage their campaign, knowing that victory this weekend will secure them a place in next season's Europa League.

There have been many positives since Mikel Arteta succeeded Unai Emery in December, but results have been mixed and Arsenal endured their worst league campaign in 25 years.

All focus is now on Saturday's showdown with London rivals Chelsea - a repeat of the 2017 final, which Arsenal won 2-1 at Wembley.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up in the showpiece fixture.

Out: Shkodran Mustafi (thigh), Gabriel Martinelli (knee), Pablo Mari (knee), Calum Chambers (knee) Doubtful: Hector Bellerin (calf), Bernd Leno (knee)

Arteta used a 3-4-3 formation in the semi-final win against Manchester City and that is likely to remain the case on Saturday.

Shkodran Mustafi injured his hamstring late on in that match and has been ruled out for three months, however, opening up a gap for Rob Holding to return to the backline.

There is a big decision to be made at left wing-back, meanwhile, as Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are both pushing for inclusion, while Kieran Tierney can also play there.

Bernd Leno is back in training after a month-long layoff but Arteta has already confirmed that Emiliano Martinez will continue to operate in goal.

Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to continue on the left of a front three and is looking to build in a return of three goals in two FA Cup final outings.
