Saturday's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup: Lucas Torreira, William Saliba, Hector Herrera

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Saturday, October 3.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected last summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Saturday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal are reportedly exploring the possibility of sending William Saliba back out on loan to France before the transfer window closes next Monday.

The 19-year-old joined up with his teammates at the Emirates Stadium in the summer after spending the 2019-20 season on loan at former club Saint-Etienne, but Saliba is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Gunners.

According to the Evening Standard, Mikel Arteta is considering loaning out the youngster once again in a bid to help the teenager gain more first-team experience.

The report claims that current Ligue 1 leaders Rennes would be interested in signing Saliba on a temporary basis, with the centre-back having made 28 appearances in the French top flight during his two seasons in the Saint-Etienne first team.

Saliba currently finds himself behind Rob Holding, David Luiz and Gabriel Magalhaes in the pecking order at Arsenal, while fellow centre-backs Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are both being linked with moves away before next Monday's deadline.

Arsenal 'agree Atletico Madrid loan deal for Lucas Torreira'

Arsenal are reportedly willing to allow Lucas Torreira to sign for Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

Torreira has failed to settle at the Gunners during his two years in North London, leading to frequent speculation regarding a potential exit.

Although there has been plenty of interest from Serie A, Atletico have also held a long-standing interest in the Uruguay international.

According to AS, the Champions League quarter-finalists have agreed terms with Arsenal regarding a loan deal for the current campaign.

Confirmation of the arrangement is expected once Atletico have freed up space in their squad by allowing Hector Herrera to depart Wanda Metropolitano.

The report adds that Atletico will have the option to sign Torreira for £22m at the end of the season.
