Crowd trouble mars Auxerre, Montpellier match

Chaos erupted during Montpellier's match at Auxerre on Sunday night as disruption from home fans caused the game to be temporarily stopped.

Auxerre supporters threw missiles, including tennis balls and toilet roll, onto the pitch with 20 minutes to play at the Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps.

Riot police were then reportedly called in to help put a stop to the trouble.

With the scores tied at 1-1, Montpellier need to avoid defeat to become Ligue 1 champions. Play has now been resumed.
