AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has defended his decision to drop Fernando Torres to the bench in Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Fiorentina.
The Spaniard has netted just once in his six Rossoneri appearances since joining the Italian giants on a two-year loan from Chelsea in August.
Consequently, Torres was dropped from the starting lineup for the first time in four matches as Jeremy Menez spearheaded Milan's attack against the Viola.
However, Inzaghi insists that the misfiring striker simply needs more time to settle in at the club.
"Torres is exactly as we expected; he needs some time," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
"I have to make choices and tonight I went for Menez, who did well, while I thought the final stages were the right time for Torres to make an impact."
Milan sit sixth in the Serie A standings, seven points adrift of leaders Juventus.
