Filippo Inzaghi accepts blame for Palermo upset

Filippo Inzaghi takes the blame for AC Milan's shock 2-0 defeat to Palmero at San Siro on Sunday.

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has accepted responsibility for Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Palermo at the San Siro.

Christian Zapata's own goal midway through the first half helped the visitors into the lead, before Paulo Dybala doubled the advantage three minutes later in a shock win for Giuseppe Iachini's side.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia afterwards, Inzaghi admitted that it was a "bad performance" from his troops, but took nothing away from the newly-promoted outfit.

"We hadn't started that badly with Andrea Poli and Fernando Torres coming close, so if those chances had gone in it would have been a different game, but Palermo scored first and they deserved the victory. We tip our hat to them," he said.

"Nights like this can also help you grow. I take responsibility. We can't wait to get back on the field to face Sampdoria to make up for this performance.

"It is a shame that we played like this at San Siro in front of the home fans. It was a bad performance and Palermo deserved the points."

The Rossoneri - now winless in three Serie A outings - sit seventh in the table.
