Sri Lanka ease to win over Pakistan

Tillakaratne Dilshan leads Sri Lanka to a seven-wicket win over Pakistan in a rain-affected one-day international.

Sri Lanka have secured a comfortable seven-wicket win by the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-affected one-day international against Pakistan.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat in Dambulla, but struggled to score runs in the overcast conditions as they were bowled out for 102.

Fawad Alam was the top scorer for the tourists, finishing 38 not out, but Misbah-ul-Haq (18) and Ahmed Shehzad (10) were the only other players to reach double figures.

Dhammika Prasad removed both of the openers cheaply, but it was Thisara Perera who really tested the Pakistan batsmen, finishing with bowling figures of 4-34.

The hosts made a bright start in their reply, with the openers adding 46 before Upal Tharanga (14) was dismissed, but Tillakaratne Dilshan finished on an unbeaten 50.

Mahela Jayawardene (26) and Dilshan continued to race towards their opponents' total, before Angelo Mathews came to the crease with just two runs needed.

Dilshan hit the winning shot, ensuring that Sri Lanka needed less than 19 overs to reach 104-3 and pass their target.

The result leaves the series tied, with both teams having won one match each.
