Japan's Ryota Murata has defeated Abdelmalek Rahou of Algeria by nine points in the Olympic middleweight classification.
The fighters stood toe to toe from the first bell until the end, but neither fighter was producing anything that could be considered particularly clean in the early exchanges.
It was Murata who produced the better work and took a one-point lead into the second.
The Japanese man started to find more success as Rahou tired, but he still looked slow as he pressed his opponent, albeit relentlessly.
Murata went on to record a 21-12 triumph in the final round.
