The visitors nearly took the lead in the 16th minute, but Mario Gotze's effort was tipped around the post by Willy Caballero.

Gotze was in the thick of the action minutes later when his shot was held by Caballero following a counter-attack.

Dortmund continued to control the first half, only for Marco Reus to waste two opportunities.

The German side bombarded the Malaga goal after the break and they should have gone ahead on 66 minutes when Gotze shot wide from close range.

Malaga were soon up the other end as Isco's effort was punched away by Roman Weidenfeller.

However, chances were few and far between in the final 20 minutes as both teams looked content with the draw.

Vitorino Antunes blasted his long-range drive well over the bar for the hosts late on, while Julian Schieber did the same for the away team from a tight angle.
