Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sports Mole?
Sports Mole is a sports news website from the team that created Digital Spy, now one of the largest entertainment news websites in the UK. We update around the clock, seven days a week, with the latest breaking news stories from across the sporting world. Our aim is to deliver you the news that matters as fast as we can.

How big is your team?
Sports Mole is run by editor Neil Wilkes - co-founder and editor of Digital Spy for 12 years - as well as long-term business partner Alan Jay and deputy editor Dan Saney, both also alumni of Digital Spy. There are two staff reporters alongside a team of more than ten part-time reporters. For full profiles of the team please click here.

Who owns Sports Mole?
Sports Mole is privately owned and operated by a number of individuals, including Neil Wilkes and Alan Jay.

How are you different from other sports websites like Sky Sports or The Mirror?
Our editorial stance is to be completely neutral. We offer you, our readers, the facts and let you make your own judgements based on that. Our news articles are 100% impartial and have a down-the-line tone. We are focused on short, fast articles and cover news that is reported across all publications.

Do you have any plans to cover American sports?
At present we provide coverage of American sport where it is likely to be of interest to our UK readers, such as developments with David Beckham at LA Galaxy or the NFL lockout, as well as full coverage of the MLS. Over time we hope to increase our coverage of all sports and expect increased US coverage to be part of this.

What are your future plans for expansion?
Sports Mole is currently producing more than 100 news stories per day. Later in 2012 we hope to further increase our offering, with greater coverage of European football, the SPL and League One/Two, as well as expanding our coverage of sports such as cricket, boxing and athletics.

Can I reproduce your content on my website?
Sports Mole is proud to produce its own content for exclusive viewing on the Sports Mole website, so at present we have no plans for syndication. If you are a fansite that would like to use a single article in context on your site, please contact us to request permission.

Do you have any jobs going?
Periodically Sports Mole seeks new staff or part-time reporters. These will be advertised clearly on the site as well as journalism websites. Make sure you also follow us on Twitter to hear about any new opportunities.
