Swansea City have reportedly indicated that they are ready to step up their efforts to sign Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan.
Earlier this month, Swansea were linked with a loan bid for the out-of-favour midfielder, who has been given permission to leave Atletico during the January transfer window.
The La Liga giants are likely to be open to either a temporary or permanent deal but according to The Sun, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is prepared to spend big on the player's wages.
Jenkins is allegedly willing to pay Gaitan as much as £120,000 per week to help the club in their attempts to remain in England's top flight.
Despite Monday night's 1-0 win over Liverpool, Swansea remain bottom of the Premier League standings, three points adrift of safety.
Gaitan has made just two starts and eight substitute appearances in La Liga and Champions League fixtures during the current campaign.
