Milos Raonic survives Tommy Haas test

Milos Raonic survives Tommy Haas test

Milos Raonic has survived a fightback from Germany's Tommy Haas on Centre Court to progress to the third round at Wimbledon.

The seventh seed needed just over 20 minutes to wrap up the opening set, claiming it 6-0 as the German struggled to return his opponent's serves, while facing a barrage of solid returns from the Canadian.

Haas managed to get his first game on the board early in the second set, but Raonic continued to outplay his opponent, firing a 145mph serve over the net, which is the third fastest in Wimbledon's history.

After falling two sets down, Haas made a brighter start to the third set, holding his first two service games, and managed to maintain his resilient showing through the third to force a tie-break.

The 37-year-old had a comfortable lead midway through the tie-break, but Raonic saved five set points, before the veteran German finally converted on his own serve.

Haas stuck with Raonic again through the fourth, saving three match points in the 12th game to force another tie-break, but Raonic fired some powerful serves past his opponent to give himself another four match points, taking the first to secure the win.

Raonic will face Australia's Nick Kyrgios in the next round.
