Richard Gasquet earns spot in third round

Number 10 seed Richard Gasquet earned his place in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open with victory over Bernard Tomic.

The Frenchman won in straight sets in a match that lasted just under an hour-and-half.

In an even first set at six games apiece, Gasquet secured the win in the tie-break with a 7-1 victory.

The second set was more straightforward for the Frenchman as he secured the match with a 6-2 triumph.

In the third round Gasquet will face Jerzy Janowicz.
