Result: Three swimmers take bronze in 200m breaststroke at World Championships

Three swimmers claim bronze in the 200m breaststroke final at the World Championships in Kazan.

Spain's Jessica Vall, Denmark's Rikke Moller Pedersen and China's Shi Jinglin have all claimed bronze in the 200m breaststroke final at the World Championships in Kazan.

Japan's Kanako Watanabe came from behind to snatch a gold medal, but an unprecedented five swimmers will be on the podium later in the session for the medal ceremony.

The field was opened up after Russia's Yuliya Efimova failed to qualify for the final yesterday.

Denmark's Rikke Moeller Pedersen, who holds the world record in this event, took the lead at the midway point of the race, but in the closing stages Watanabe surged ahead in the final 50m.

The 18-year-old took gold in 2:21.15, while silver went to Micah Lawrence of the USA.
