Wycombe fined for player-agent breach

Wycombe Wanderers have been fined £10,000 by the Football Association for breaching player-agent rules.

The fine relates to the sale of winger Matt Phillips to Blackpool four years ago.

The club has been found guilty of paying Phillips's agent via a percentage of a future sell-on fee.

The agent involved, Phil Smith, has been hit with a two-year ban, with 18 months of his punishment suspended.

Both parties have the right to appeal the decision, though Wycombe have confirmed that they will not be taking up that option.
